Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf inaugurates the second edition of the Military and Paramilitary Games in Kano

Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf declared open the second edition of the military and paramilitary games organised by the Kano State Sports Commission at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata on Sunday.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, said the Kano State Government is keen on developing sports activities in the state because of its contribution to the economy, health and well-being of the youth.

The idea behind the creation of the contest was to promote mutual understanding between security agencies in order to promote peace and unity among them.

The spirit of the Nigerian Air Force football team was boosted after a second-half resignation to equalise. The team continued their dominance and defeated KAROTA 2-1.

The games will feature the participation of more than 675 athletes, both men and women from the military and paramilitary sectors, who will take part in different disciplines such as athletics, badminton, basketball, football and golf.

The rest are Judo, Karate, Table Tennis, Tennis and Volleyball in different venues.

Among the dignitaries who attended the event were the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, Commissioner for Solid Minerals AlH. Safiyanu Hamza Kachakko, Chairman, Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Sports, AlH. Kabiru Usman, (ADS) Kano Municipal Member, Alhaji Sarki Aliyu Daneji, President, Kano State FA, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan, Commander, Nigerian Air Force Kano Group, Captain Mustapha Suleman, DG Corporate Security R&D Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Kabiru Gwarzo, among others.
