Charlton Athletic sign Super Falcons prospect

English-born striker Princess Ademiluyi has joined Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan from West Ham for the 2024/25 season.

Ademiluyi signed her first professional contract with West Ham last week. The 18-year-old has been with the Hammers since a young age but will now look to pursue first-team opportunities with The Addicks.

The forward signed her first professional contract with West Ham.

To further her development, West Ham have also agreed to send the Kent-born striker on loan to Barclays Women’s Championship side Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks are currently competing in the second tier of English women’s football, it was announced on social media.

Ademiluyi also expressed her excitement: β€œI feel amazing, it’s the best birthday I could have wished for. I’m really excited to play in the Championship because it’s competitive and can help me find my form and become the player I want to be.

β€œIf you look at the team’s last season, they were very close to promotion. I felt I wanted to come here and help make that dream a reality. I also think working with Karen will allow me to progress as a player,” he said on Charlton’s official website.

Background

Ademiluyi is the first West Ham United Foundation Player Pathway player to play for the women’s team at senior level and sign a professional contract, making history in the process.

Born in Gravesend, Kent, he is of Nigerian descent. He joined West Ham aged twelve and has made seventeen first-team appearances since making his senior debut as a substitute against Brighton & Hove Albion in May 2023.

She has yet to represent any nation at international level, making her eligible to represent either the Nigeria Super Falcons or the England Lionesses.

Although his preferred national team is unknown at the moment, he would be a valuable addition to the Super Falcons.
