Three brothers found dead on the riverbank

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of three brothers at a farm located around Owena Army Barracks in Akure South Local Government Area of ​​the state.

DSP Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the command, who made this known in a statement on Sunday, said the incident occurred on Friday.

Jimoh said among the victims were 11-year-old twins who had left the farm to return home but were discovered missing when their father returned home.

“The victims, identified as Joshua and Jacob Jonah, both aged 11; and Blessing Jonah, aged 5, accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm.

“A search was subsequently carried out and on September 5 the bodies of the three children were discovered around the bank of a small river within the farm.

“Meanwhile the bodies were taken by the father for burial,” he said.

Jimoh, however, said the command continues to document the circumstances of the incident, while investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances that led to their deaths.

“The command extends its deepest condolences to the bereaved family and urges members of the public, especially parents and guardians, to exercise increased vigilance around children around rivers, ponds and other bodies of water,” it said.
