A scuffle broke out at the APC Lagos West senatorial election in Alimosho

At least 15 people were injured in a brawl that broke out during the All Progressives Congress (APC) Western Senatorial District primaries in Alimosho local government area of ​​Lagos on Monday.

An officer of the Tactical Team of the Lagos State Police Command, Egbeda, Aduroja Olurotimi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Ikeja.

Olurotimi said the injured people had been rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

He said the clash involved members of rival factions within the APC, adding that police officers and other security agencies quickly moved to the scene to restore normalcy.

He noted that no arrests had been made at the time this report was filed.

The disturbance occurred at around 13.00 witnessed by security officers.

An eyewitness told reporters that altercations broke out among faction members when members were called to cast their votes with chairs, glass windows and doors smashed at the Alimosho Local Government Area secretariat, the polling venue.

Following the disturbance, several party members suffered serious injuries and were rushed to hospital while others ran to safety.
