Muhammad Sani Abacha, the eldest son of Nigeria’s late Head of State, Sani Abacha, has lost the PDP governorship ticket in Kano State for the 2027 general elections.
Abacha was defeated by Muhammad Bello Dalhatu in the PDP governorship primary election held in Kano.
Announcing the results of the primary elections, the Chairman of the Kano State Governorship Primary Elections Committee, Umar Danjani Hadejia, said
Muhammad Sani Abacha, obtained 749 votes, while Muhammad Bello Dalhatu, obtained 2,233 votes, thus returning Dalhatu as the winner of the trial.
“Having secured the highest number of valid votes cast, Alhaji Muhammad Bello Dalhat was duly declared the winner of the PDP gubernatorial primary election and consequently returned as the party’s gubernatorial candidate for Kano State,” Hadejia said.
According to him, the operation took place peacefully, transparently, smoothly and in accordance with the party constitution and electoral guidelines.
He commended all aspirants, delegates, party officials, security agencies and stakeholders for their maturity, cooperation and commitment during the exercise.
The President urged all party members to unite and work collectively for the success of the party in the upcoming elections.
