The African Business and Integrity Consultancy Services (ABICS) will host an online training program titled “Getting Things Done Through Project Management: Plan Better, Execute Smarter, Deliver Results” on Friday 15 May 2026.
The virtual training, which will take place via Zoom, is scheduled for 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm Nigerian time and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Eastern time in the United States.
The program will feature renowned project management expert, Adedeji Badiru, as co-presenter, while Tony Mayfield will serve as lead instructor.
Tony Mayfield is a highly talented systems engineer and engineering manager with more than 35 years of professional experience in mission-critical industries, including the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and the Department of Defense (DoD), renowned for his strategic leadership and technical excellence.
Professor Badiru is the dean emeritus of the Graduate School of Engineering and Management at the US Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) and is respected globally for his contributions to systems engineering, project management and organizational leadership.
Speaking before the training, Professor Badiru highlighted that project management principles are essential not only in business and corporate organisations, but also in everyday life.
“Everything we do in life is a project that must be managed structurally and strategically to achieve the best results. Life itself is a complex project that, if not managed well, could lead to disastrous results,” he said.
According to him, the inspiration for the training comes from his lifelong commitment to applying project management approaches in managing personal and professional commitments.
“I attribute my personal successes to my use of project management. I want other people and companies around me to do the same because everyone benefits when all projects are managed successfully,” he said.
Professor Badiru further explained that, from a systemic perspective, everything in life is interconnected, emphasizing that collective success benefits society as a whole.
“Success is contagious. We all do better when we’re all on the same page,” he added.
Highlighting the benefits that participants would derive from the programme, the project management scholar said that participants would gain practical knowledge on effective planning and execution of projects, especially when multiple stakeholders are involved.
“Each participant will gain new knowledge about how to plan and execute projects, particularly when and where other people are involved or would be interested. The wedding is a good example of where a structured approach to project management could be useful,” he explained.
On why many projects fail, Professor Badiru identified poor communication and lack of cooperation as the main factors. He noted that this challenge inspired him to develop the acclaimed TRIPLE C method.
“Most project failures have their roots in the lack or deficiency of communication and cooperation. For this reason, I developed the very famous TRIPLE C method, which requires explicit communication to elicit sustainable cooperation, which then facilitates effective coordination of activities,” he said.
He warned that coordination of activities without effective communication and continuous cooperation often leads to project failure, adding that he has witnessed such recurring problems in both corporate and national projects.
Professor Badiru also highlighted that the practicality of the training sets it apart from many conventional seminars.
“The practicality and case examples presented in this training course make it different and unique from other training programs. My personal and career examples are motivational models for others to emulate. I personally practice what I teach and have results to show for it,” he said.
