Adelabu, declaring his ambition to become governor of Oyo, unveiled his blueprint

Former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, on Tuesday announced plans for the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Adelabu, who officially declared his ambition to become governor in Ibadan, promised to turn around the state’s economic position and ensure massive job creation.

He said the declaration marked the beginning of a movement to restore, rebuild, reposition and reclaim Oyo State for genuine progress, prosperity and people-centred governance.

The former minister said that his development blueprint, labeled the “Oyo Rebirth Agenda,” would feature effective local government administration and grassroots development, modern security architecture and public safety, as well as an agricultural revolution.

Adelabu added that he would focus on comprehensive social welfare, education reform, health transformation, urban development, civil service reform and women’s empowerment, among others.

“I oppose it because governance must go beyond rhetoric; government must produce measurable development.

“I took part because I believe that in order to create a better Oyo State, the most important thing is capacity, competence, character, compassion and courage.

“I stand before you today with humility and a deep sense of responsibility to officially declare my intention to run for governor of Oyo State in the 2027 general elections under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.

He called for continued unity among the APC in Oyo State, stressing that unity remains the path to victory for the party in the upcoming elections.

“This project is bigger than one person. This is a collective mission. We have to unite, we have to be united.

“We must prioritize party supremacy, discipline and collective victory above individual ambition.

“There is no progress without unity. There is no victory without solidarity. I call on all leaders, candidates, stakeholders and members of the APC: let us work together. Let us build together, let us win together,” he said.
