AIU Drags Amusan to Court of Arbitration for Sports – Latest Sports News In Nigeria
Before the World Athletics Championship in Budapest, Amusan faced a provisional suspension for failing to undergo a mandatory doping test.
Although she was later cleared to compete, she was unable to defend her title.
On Monday, the AIU officially announced that they have initiated legal proceedings against the Nigerian athlete, and the matter has been escalated to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
“The AIU filed an appeal last Friday (15 September 2023) with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the Disciplinary Tribunal’s decision, dated 17 August 2023, that Tobi Amusan did not commit an anti-doping rule violation for Whereabouts Failures.
“The AIU will make no further comment on the matter until the conclusion of the appeal,” read the statement.
