*STAFF SALARIES FOR 12 MONTHS UNPAID: NIGERIANS SHOULD REJECT ABUBAKAR AND ADC CANDIDATES
It has come to our attention that the National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress, led by Senator David Mark as Chairman and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary, has refused and neglected to pay party staff for over a year.
We find it inconceivable that a political party that has made many grandiose promises to deceive Nigerians is indebted to its workers for more than 12 months. The debt owed to staff who come to work every day and who rely on their salaries for their daily sustenance is evil and reprehensible.
With this development, Nigerians can now see the emptiness and insincerity of those who present themselves as “new saviors”.
We have clearly stated that the ADC leaders and their presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have no good intentions and cannot do anything for our country. Their desperation for power is driven by personal aggrandizement and a venomous hostility against President Bola Tinubu. A party that cannot pay its cleaners and its workforce cannot be in charge of the affairs of our country.
ADC leader and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has a reputation for being beholden to his employees. While he regularly travels to the UAE, staff at his Gotel Communication and other companies have also gone without pay for months and have staged protests over unpaid salaries and other benefits.
The behavior of the ADC General Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, in paying the salaries of workers and pensioners in Osun State, where he was governor for 8 years, has been abysmal.
As governor, he mismanaged the state’s finances to the point of failing to pay workers. His government then introduced the payment of a quarter of a salary and, sometimes, a half of a salary.
As for pensioners, he abandoned them for more than four years. Many died because they could not afford basic necessities.
It is therefore not surprising that the ADC, which is home to birds of a feather, cannot pay the salaries of its workers.
We now issue a warning to Nigerians and workers: Reject the ADC. Reject Atiku Abubakar and reject all ADC candidates in the next general elections. They do not have the interests of our country and our people at heart. A party that aspires to govern Nigeria and cannot be trusted with something as basic as the management of its affairs and the welfare of its workforce should be rejected by Nigerians.
