Senate President Godswill Akpabio has lauded President Bola Tinubu’s “bold reforms and strategic leadership” as the administration marks three years in office, saying the Renewed Hope Agenda has laid the foundation for Nigeria’s growth and greatness.

In a congratulatory message personally signed by him on Thursday, May 29, 2026, Akpabio commended Tinubu for taking “difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest” despite global economic headwinds.

“The courage to eliminate fuel subsidies, unify exchange rates and promote infrastructure despite global headwinds demonstrates a President committed to long-term prosperity over short-term comfort,” the Senate President said.

Akpabio highlighted several flagship projects of the administration which he said are “repositioning Nigeria”.

They include: the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to open up trade and coastal connectivity; the Nigerian Student Loan Program to expand access to tertiary education; the Renewed Hope Housing program for affordable homes nationwide; the nationwide introduction of compressed natural gas buses and conversion centers to reduce transportation costs; ongoing tax reforms to broaden the tax base and reduce the burden on low-income workers; and the completion of the OB3 pipeline delivering 2 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day into the national grid.

He said the 10th Senate would remain a “committed partner” in enacting laws to sustain the gains made and secure Nigeria’s future.

“Mr President, your courage in taking difficult but necessary decisions in the national interest is already yielding results that Nigerians can see and feel,” Akpabio said. “The 10th Senate remains a committed partner in enacting legislation that will support these gains and secure the future we all desire.”

The Senate President prayed for wisdom, strength and good health for Tinubu and wished him “a happy completion of his tenure and a resounding victory in the coming elections”.

Tinubu’s third anniversary comes amid ongoing debates over the impact of subsidy removal, forex unification and inflation on families. Senate approval signals legislative support for the administration’s agenda in the second half of the year to 2027.

Hon Eseme Eyiboh, his Special Adviser, Media/Advertising, signed the press release containing these positions.
