Amusan wins gold in women’s 1OOm hurdles

Tobi Amusan successfully defended her women’s 100m hurdles title at the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championships, winning the competition’s first gold medal for Nigeria.

His compatriot Adaobi Tabugbo also impressed, posting a strong finish to claim bronze after a brilliant start to the race.

Amusan will now turn its attention to Saturday’s Diamond League meeting in China.

The Nigerian team opened its campaign in the competition with two medals, both in the women’s discus event.

Divine Oladipo, competing in his first international event for Nigeria, put in an impressive performance to claim the silver medal.

Obiageri Amaechi also made it to the podium, taking bronze to complete a memorable performance for the Nigerian team in the event.
