Anambra, Enugu Police launched a joint border security initiative

In an effort to be coordinated to fight cross -border crime, the Anambra and Enugu State Police Command has begun patrols and joint border operations.

This collaborative strategy, in line with the Police Inspector General, Police Direction Dr. The enhanced Egbetokun Kayode was announced in a joint statement released on Monday by police public relations officers in Enugu and Anambra, respectively.

“The Police Commissioner of the Anambra State Command, Dr. Ikioye Orutugu and his colleague in the state of Enugu, Mr Mamman Giwa, met on March 24, 2025, to develop operational strategies that aimed to proactively oversee the two neighboring countries,” the statement detailed.

Commissioners identified critical security challenges. “The commissioners identified the infiltration of criminals between neighboring countries as a major security challenge that requires urgent intervention to overcome violent crime and subversive criminal elements.”

In response, they have committed to the integrated approach. “As a result, they promised to collaborate, share intelligence, and gather operational resources to fight violent crimes on the border and within the states of each,” the statement continued.

The commissioners have made a strong commitment to public safety. “The commissioners repeat their commitment to explicitly fight all forms of crime and crime in the two states through patrols and joint security operations, with the aim of ensuring maximum public safety and safety.”

Clear warnings are issued for criminal elements. “The two commissioners also warned criminals who operate in both countries to repent or ready to face full legal weight.”

The meeting, which was held at the Anambra State Command Headquarters at AWKA, saw the participation of key personnel. “The meeting, held at the Anambra State Command Headquarters, Awka, was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of the Police who were responsible for the operation and other officers from the two orders.”
