The All Progressives Congress (APC) said Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye as the consensus candidate for the Ifo/Ewekoro federal constituency ahead of the next election cycle, in a development party that stakeholders have described as the result of extensive internal consultations and negotiations.
Adeleye’s emergence was reportedly achieved through a process anchored on dialogue, reconciliation and consensus building among party leaders, stakeholders and top political figures within the constituency.
Describing the development as a collective responsibility rather than a personal victory, Adeleye said the consensus reflected the party’s commitment to unity, equity and internal democracy.
He expressed appreciation to the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who he described as a key pillar of the process.
“I am deeply honored and sincerely grateful. This is not a personal triumph but a collective responsibility entrusted to me by our leaders and party faithful,” she said.
He particularly praised Abiodun for what he called his “consistency, firm belief in fairness, leadership and firm guidance” in strengthening cohesion within the APC across the state.
Adeleye also acknowledged the contribution of leaders at the top of Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, party executives and other stakeholders who participated in the negotiation process that led to its adoption.
He also extended his appreciation to stakeholders who have supported his aspiration over time, stressing that their “voices, beliefs and unwavering support” have shaped his political journey.
In a show of political solidarity, he also praised key political figures in the constituency, including Deputy Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Ibrahim Ayokunle Isiaka, Asiwaju Lateef Adesina, Bashorun Olaniran Olalekan (popularly known as BOOM) and Dr Ademola Evans (DEDEMBULA), for what he described as their maturity and sportsmanship during the trial.
According to her, the consent agreement was not designed to exclude any stakeholders, but to strengthen unity and ensure inclusive representation in all segments of the federal constituency.
“This journey has never been about exclusion, but about building consensus and ensuring that every segment of our federal constituency feels represented and respected,” he added.
Adeleye has pledged to run inclusive, people-centred representation if elected, vowing to deepen engagement with voters and consolidate party unity.
As the APC prepares for the next phase of the electoral process, it has called for continued support from party leaders and stakeholders, assuring that it will continue to strive for humility, inclusion and service to the constituency.
He concluded his speech with a religious expression of gratitude, saying: “Alhamdulillah Robil Alamin.”
