APC government will soon start 2027 campaign -Uzodinma

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has revealed that governors under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will soon begin their campaigns, following the return of President Bola Tinubu to the country from his holiday.

This was disclosed by Uzodinma, Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Secretary of the Presidential Campaign Council, on Sunday in Lagos after visiting the President.

He said the APC governors would start campaigning “immediately” after Tinubu’s return.

Uzodimma, who met Tinubu at his residence in Lagos, said he had briefed the president on developments in the country during his absence and the activities of APC governors.

He said the meeting also reviewed the PGF’s efforts to communicate the government’s achievements and policies to the Nigerian people before the start of political mobilization.

“The President had just returned from work leave. And while he was away, we were working in Nigeria. And it was natural that he was briefed on the happenings in the country and an interim report was given to him on the problems on the ground,” Uzodimma said.

“I came and briefed him. We had a very quality conversation, and he is now aware of the things that happened while he was away and the efforts of the governors at the Progressive Governors Forum in ensuring that Nigerians are fully aware of the achievements of his administration and his policies.

“We are referring directly to our campaign, which will start immediately since his return.”

The PGF chairman said governors have taken a cue from Tinubu’s Independence Day broadcast and will focus not only on promoting governance reforms but also ensuring that Nigerians experience the benefits directly.

According to him, reform programs have gone beyond the implementation stage and reached the stage where the results obtained must be translated into improvements in people’s living conditions.

“We have taken an example from that broadcast, and that is what we are doing. The reform policy has moved from implementation to ensuring that Nigerians benefit from the reform policy itself,” he said.

He said APC governors would be asked to demonstrate the impact of reforms at the grassroots.

“So we don’t just sit here and sing reform songs. We make sure that the people who really benefit from reform policies are the people. That the impact will be felt by the masses,” he said.
