At least four people have been confirmed dead following a suspected attack by armed herdsmen in Mbapa, Gwer West Local Government Area (LGA), Benue State.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening, leaving the community in shock and fear.
One victim reportedly survived but remains unconscious and several residents are still missing, raising concerns that the death toll could rise.
Eyewitness testimony revealed that the attack began in the early hours of the evening, throwing the community into disarray.
The eyewitness who simply gave his name as Tyokula noted that there was panic as residents fled into nearby bushes and nearby communities to escape the violence.
He said the attack had left Mbapa and surrounding areas in turmoil with many residents abandoning their homes.
According to him, the atmosphere in the community remained tense as families searched for missing loved ones.

No official statement has been released by the security agencies at the time of writing this report.
The Benue State Government is yet to comment on the situation.
