Nigerian Kayinsola Ajayi continued his impressive season with a commanding victory in the men’s 100 meters at the London Diamond League on Saturday.

The 21-year-old clocked 9.84 seconds to edge out reigning world Oblique champion Sevilla of Jamaica, who finished second in 9.87 seconds, while Britain’s Romell Glave came third in 9.97 seconds.

Ajayi equaled his season best in a race that came to life after the halfway mark. Consistent with Sevilla in the first 50 metres, the Nigerian found another gear in the closing stages to clear and seal an impressive victory at the London Stadium.

The victory continues an impressive season for the reigning NCAA 100m champion, who has established himself as one of Nigeria’s brightest sprint prospects.

Ajayi has also confirmed that he will represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he will look to take his Diamond League form to another major stage.
