Brentford condemn Chelsea to another league defeat

Brentford claimed a convincing 3-0 victory against Chelsea in the west London derby in Friday night’s Premier League clash.

The victory temporarily moved Brentford into third place with nine points, while Chelsea are in seventh place with seven points in the league standings.

It was very easy for Brentford to win it, as Mikkel Damsgaard’s first corner was headed in by Jannik Schuster, leaving Jaidon Anthony to head unmarked from a few yards out in the 61st minute, as reported by Sky Sports.

Then, with Chelsea pushing to equalize and move into a back four, Brentford hit the Blues on the counterattack as Kevin Schade broke through.

His one-on-one was saved by Emiliano Martínez, but Igor Thiago scored from close range in the 83rd minute to end his seven-match goalless drought.

And with practically the last shot of the game, Fabio Carvalho scored his first Premier League goal since his almost year-long layoff due to injury after finishing an unmarked Schade cross at the far post to make it 3-0 in the 94th minute.

Chelsea have conceded a league-high 12 goals in five Premier League games as they continue their wait for their first top-flight clean sheet of the season.

Unimpressive in defense, but in attack, Chelsea were not much better: they clearly missed the injured Joao Pedro, and substitute Danny Welbeck failed to create clear-cut chances in his place.

Moisés Caicedo was another big mistake, his replacement being Jordan Henderson, who had an unsuccessful first outing for the Blues at the club from which he joined them.
