Chelle makes four changes to Super Eagles starting XI for clash against Portugal

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has chosen his strongest starting lineup for today’s friendly match against Portugal, as OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

The Super Eagles have participated in a series of friendlies in the summer starting with the Unity Cup tournament in London, which they won after a 2-0 win over Zimbabwe in the semi-final and a 3-0 win over Jamaica in the final.

Chelle reorganized the team for their upcoming friendly that ended 2-2 against Poland in Warsaw, and today’s match against World Cup-bound Portugal has seen changes from the team that started the last match.

In defense, the duo formed by Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi will start after playing as a substitute against Poland, Emmanuel Fernández moves to the bench while Igho Ogbu is absent due to injury.

Alex Iwobi returns to midfield and takes his place in what will be his 100th cap for Nigeria’s senior team, with Tochukwu Nnadi dropping to the bench.

In attack, Chelle gave the title to Samuel Chukwueze to play on the right, Terem Moffi falls to the bench while Akor Adams leads the line.
