Chelle needs NPFL players for Super Eagles friendlies – Ejiofor

Former Super Eagles defender Eric Ejiofor has expressed his support for Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle’s decision to invite local players for the team’s upcoming off-season friendlies.

“It’s an opportunity to see these new players in every position,” Ejiofor said.

“We will use this friendly to test and identify good players. We will see if they can fit into the team.

“The core of the Super Eagles is aging so we need younger players that the coach can make the transition with that we need.”

Ejiofor also highlighted the opportunity that friendlies present for new goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.

“It’s also a chance to see Arthur Okonkwo and what he can bring to the team.”

Meanwhile, Chelle has reiterated his intention to closely monitor local players ahead of team selection.
