Forget propaganda, Amosun’s political image has grown beyond dirty attacks, his influence in Ogun Central is currently unmatched, says Adebayo, former CUPP spokesperson

Few minutes ago, I came across a deliberately distorted report of what supposedly transpired at a stakeholders meeting of Ogun Central Senatorial District, held at the Hilltop residence of former Ogun State Governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.

The tone of the report in particular, published by an obviously biased blog, reveals nothing more than a war operation by apologists for detractors on a “take him down at all costs” mission against the former governor.

To say that Amosun, who never arrives at any event venue in Ogun State, much less Ogun Central, without a thunderous welcome even accorded to a sitting governor, was embarrassed by “a jeering mob” outside the venue, connoted nothing more than the glaring warped thinking of whoever the perpetrator was.

Regardless of the circumstances described by sponsors, the former governor’s political image has grown far beyond these dirty attacks.

Amosun

For the avoidance of doubt, no politician in the history of Ogun State politics has come close to Amosun’s crowd and acceptance in Ogun Central.

The generosity of the former governor, popularly called Ajiri omo oye, even out of office, which endeared him to his people, across religious divides, in a very special way, cannot be rivaled. I say this sincerely and firmly.

No matter how his detractors try to rewrite history, probably due to dementia-induced hazy memory, his footprints of achievements in Ogun Central and Ogun State in general are too significant to be erased.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not earn the accolade of master strategist by accident. With his probably unmatched political sagacity, which has kept him highly relevant in politics for 16 years without a specific portfolio, no one can misrepresent the political environment to him. He sees clearly and knows who he can deliver.

Forget the noise, forget the imbecile self-adulation, forget the propaganda and deliberate distortion of history by desperate spineless politicians, even the blind can feel Amosun’s intimidating ability to hold any election.

I am not a member of the APC and have never met Amosun in person, but as a stakeholder of Ogun State and Central in particular, I must not rely on sponsored reports and social media posts. I write based on first-hand information and undiluted field evaluations.

I find it difficult to remain silent when people deliberately try to destroy the legacy of those who have paid their dues in any field.

Even the consensus candidate for governor of the state, being a student of the Jagaban school of politics, knows better than to discard a political figure with a strong name and a loyal voter base.

Anyone can be paid to do dirty work against a financier’s perceived political opponent, but even then, the contractor must execute the contract with good judgment lest he end up embarrassing himself more than the target.

Amosun is not the type to be sidelined in Ogun State politics. He paid his due. I may not be his biggest fan, but I know we don’t have two like him in Ogun Central.

Just for the 2027 Senate ticket, and all these shenanigans and atrocious tantrums are thrown at him? Perhaps those who orchestrated all this hid from the grassroots because public opinion is 100% in favor of the former governor.

The first lesson taught by politics is that “there are no permanent enemies or permanent friends, only permanent interests”. So why do the ignorant and speculators cry more than the mourners?
However, eyi o wu kawi, t’Ọlọrun l’aṣẹ”.
