Children’s Day: Girl Effect urges inclusive policies to protect Nigerian children

The Country Director of Girl Effect Nigeria, Mrs. Boladale Akin-Kolapo, has called for stronger collaboration and inclusive policies to ensure that every Nigerian child has an equal opportunity to thrive, regardless of gender, ability or background.

Speaking at the National Children’s Day 2026 celebration on Friday in Abuja, Akin-Kolapo said the theme, “Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child” served as a reminder that all children deserve protection, education, healthcare and opportunities to realize their potential.

He noted that investing in children and youth, particularly adolescent girls, remains one of the most important investments Nigeria can make for sustainable national development.

She believes that communities thrive and nations become stronger when children are empowered and have access to quality education, healthcare and protection.

Akin-Kolapo said Girl Effect Nigeria was honored to join the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, development partners, civil society groups and youth in commemorating the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration.
