English Premier League side Crystal Palace have reached an agreement for the transfer of Maxence Lacroix to Chelsea for a fee believed to be around £50 million, reports OwnGoalNigeria.com.
His departure means the club now has few options in central defense and Marc Guehi will also leave the team in the January transfer window to Manchester City.
Now they are looking for options and among their main targets is the 22-year-old Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, who made his debut during the last international break.
The Trabzonspor defender has been scouted by Fulham of the English Premier League and, after seeing his initial offer rejected, another offer is currently being negotiated that is close to the Turkish team’s valuation.
However, Palace’s interest could prompt a change in talks, although it is seen as plan B and they will only take action if they fail to sign Chrislain Matsima from German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
