Crystal Palace clinched their first European title after beating Rayo Vallecano 1-0 in the 2025/26 UEFA Europa Conference League final played in Leipzig on Wednesday.
Jean-Philippe Mateta emerged as the hero for Crystal Palace, scoring the decisive goal early in the second half to give the Premier League side a historic continental win.
After a tight first half ended goalless, Mateta reacted quickest in the 51st minute, scoring from close range after an initial effort was cleared by him.

The goal marked his 16th of the season and capped another impressive performance for the striker.
The win also added another trophy to the success of manager Oliver Glasner, who is expected to leave the club at the end of the season.
Under Glasner’s tutelage, Crystal Palace have now lifted three trophies, including the FA Cup in 2025 and the Community Shield at the start of this season.
The Austrian tactician guided Palace to victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final and Liverpool in the Community Shield.
