Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu—known as Cubana Chiefpriest—has announced his entry into partisan politics, declaring his ambition to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
The celebrity stated this in a video that went viral recently where he addressed a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders. In the clip, he declared his intention to represent Orsu, Orlu and Oru East Federal Constituencies under the ruling party.
His political move comes just weeks after he publicly associated himself with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “City Boys” movement, a pro-Tinubu support group that is gaining traction during the 2023 election cycle. The alignment has fueled speculation about a possible foray into politics.
Speaking in the video, Cubana Chiefpriest described his ambition as service-oriented and not profit-oriented. He emphasized a commitment to grassroots development, and told party figures he aimed to “add value” rather than gain financial benefits from public office.
“I am not coming to steal money; I want to add my money to the constituency,” he said, positioning himself as a candidate willing to invest his personal resources into regional development initiatives.
The announcement drew mixed reactions online, with his supporters praising his confidence and generosity, while critics questioned his political experience and readiness to take on legislative responsibilities.
