Nigerian international goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has left Omonia Nicosia after five years at the club, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.
Uzoho, who has been playing the role of backup goalkeeper to starter Fabiano, was told he could leave this club before the close of the summer transfer window, shortly after they advanced to the group stage of the Europa League.
The 27-year-old was courted by three teams in Cyprus but decided to join season leaders Omonia 29is Maiou, ending his association with their rivals.
He is expected to be the team’s first choice as his wealth of experience in the league gives him an advantage over others. The agreement has been announced by both clubs.
Although the duration of the agreement has not been specified, sources say it will be a three-year contract with the option of another year depending on the success of his first years at the club.
