ECOWAS allocates $13 million for counter-terrorism, humanitarian efforts – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu said on Sunday that the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has allocated at least $13 million to support frontline counter-terrorism efforts and humanitarian efforts in the sub-region.

Tinubu, according to a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, stated this at the Sixth Mid-Annual Coordination Meeting of the African Union in Accra, Ghana.

Tinubu, who is the Chairperson of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, said the subregional body had allocated $9 million to assist refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers, while $4 million was given to support frontline states in fighting terrorism.

He said: “ECOWAS has allocated $9 million to assist people of concern, including refugees, internally displaced persons and asylum seekers.
