Elena Jessica reportedly died of complications related to what family members described as her second BBL procedure at the Cynosure Aesthetic Plastic Surgery Hospital in Lagos, sparking fresh debate over the risks associated with cosmetic surgery in Nigeria.
Responding to the incident on her Instagram Stories on Wednesday, Oputa warned young women against viewing cosmetic procedures as anything more than an aesthetic enhancement, and emphasized that BBL surgery does not provide internal health benefits.
“BBL will not make you healthier,” said the reality TV star, adding that while people pursue the procedure for appearance, it should not be misconstrued as something that improves overall physical well-being.

Oputa explains that many people assume that cosmetic surgery has broader benefits, but he emphasizes that the procedures primarily change the physical appearance and carry significant medical risks, especially if performed repeatedly or performed in unsafe conditions.
“Brazilian Btt Lift does not make you healthier. It is a cosmetic procedure that reshapes the body by removing fat from one area and moving it to the buttocks. While it may change appearance, it does not improve the internal systems that determine true health.”
“We live in a time where shortcuts have become commonplace, but shortcuts to our bodies can pose serious risks. If anyone chooses to shortcut, please do your due diligence and make the right decision.”
“My heart goes out to the families affected by recent losses. Situations like this are a painful reminder that our health and safety must always come first.”
