The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), Benin Region, recently carried out a clearance operation to remove structures encroaching on the 330 kV Ihovbor-Ajaokuta transmission line in Ihovbor community, Edo State. The activity took place from Wednesday 18 February to Friday 20 February 2026.

The two-day operation aimed to reclaim TCN’s right of way along the transmission corridor. Before the operation, the company organized awareness programs to highlight the risks of invasion, issued a three-month notice to the host community and provided compensation to those affected.

The clearance was conducted by a team at TCN Headquarters in Abuja, in collaboration with the Real Estate Department. Traditional rulers, youth leaders and other stakeholders were duly informed before the commencement of the exercise.

TCN said the action is necessary to protect lives and property while safeguarding critical electrical infrastructure
