Eight people died in a hospital fire in Iran

At least eight people died in a fire incident at a hospital in Iran.

Reports said a fire broke out at a hospital in the city of Rasht near the Caspian Sea in the north of the country on Tuesday.

Based on initial findings, the deceased were patients in the intensive care unit.

The head of the city’s emergency services told reporters that dozens of firefighters had been deployed.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

About 140 patients were rescued although there are fears there could be more victims.
