England must ignore external criticism: Eze

England midfielder Eberechi Eze urged his teammates to ignore outside criticism following their frustrating goalless draw with Ghana at the 2026 World Cup.

The stalemate leaves the dynamics of England’s Group L open. However, Eze insists that the mentality remains completely focused on winning the next clash against Panama in New Jersey to secure first place in their group.

“It’s normal,” he told reporters of the negative reaction. “There will be opinions outside of what’s going on and what they think of the game, but we’re not too focused on that. We’re confident in what we’re doing.”

“(We) can’t spend a lot of time listening to people who aren’t playing and who aren’t really on the field. We know what we’re doing, we trust what we’re doing and we’re confident, so that’s all that matters.

“It’s a long journey. You can’t be too high or too low, you have to trust what you’re doing in the present moment. We’re trying to enjoy it as much as we can and have confidence in what’s to come.

“The mentality is still the same, still focusing on doing what we have to do to win. We are positive. We know what we have been doing to get to this position; we are confident in what we have been doing. Today was a difficult day because of how well they played, but we could have gotten a win today.

“I’m confident that what we’ve been doing, how we’ve been playing, the confidence we’re playing with will put us in a good position to lead the group.”
