The Federal Government has issued n50 billion in unions of the academic and non -academic staff of the Federal Universities for the payment of compensation earned.
The Minister of Education, Maruf Olaunji Alausa, in A Declaration signed on Wednesday by Boriowo Folasade, director of the press and public relations at the Ministry, said that the funds are designated for the settlement of indemnities earned outstanding.
He described development as another clear demonstration of the company’s commitment of President Bola Tinubu to remodel the Nigeria educational sector.
“This significant step underlines the determination of the Administration to move Nigeria from an economy based on resources to a guide guided by knowledge, making strategic investments in education, infrastructure and human capital.
“This intervention goes beyond a simple financial transaction; it is a reaffirmation of the president’s belief in the potential of the Nigerians young people and the critical role that the academic and non -academic staff performs in their development,” he said.
Giving priority to the well -being of university staff, Alausa has declared that the government is laid the foundations for a future in which every Nigerian child receives a competitive world -level education on a global scale.
The minister also expressed the deep appreciation of the president to the staff unions for their continuous trust in his leadership, observing that their cooperation has favored an environment of peace and mutual respect in the federal institutions of the nation.
Alausa stressed that the country is currently experiencing one of its longer uninterrupted academic sessions in recent years, due to the commitment shared between the government and the university communities.
“The progress we did is a testimony of the strong partnership between the administration and the academic community,” he said.
