The Federal Government said that he did not have an agreement signed with the union of universities (Asuu) of academic staff.
The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, made this known to Abuja as he turned to journalists.
He explained that the documents often cited by the Union as a constraint were simply proposed during the negotiations.
Tuesday Asuu had threatened to undertake an indefinite strike if the government does not honor its requests, including the 2009 and 2011 agreements.
The union accused the subsequent administrations of not having implemented the resolutions reached despite several rounds of dialogue.
But Alausa insisted on the fact that the 2009 and 2011 documents were not valid agreements.
“Asuu documents reported how agreements were only proposals that never been signed,” he said.
He also rejected the news of a planned meeting with Asuu and the Minister of Labor, describing them as inaccurate.
However, he assured that the Bola Tinubu administration has remained committed to resolving exceptional issues with university teachers.
During the warning strike recently declared in the tertiary institutions, Alausa said she met the permanent secretary of the Ministry, the Minister of Labor and the General Solicitor of the Federation. According to him, the meeting produced a resolution and an agreement project, which will be forwarded to Asuu for the revision before any final decision is taken
