Former foreign minister, Yusuf Tuggar, has officially announced his candidacy for Bauchi governorship

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, has declared his intention to run for governor of Bauchi state in the 2027 general election.

He made these remarks while addressing party supporters at a political rally on Saturday in Bauchi.

Tuggar said he would contest the election under the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) to bring positive change to the state.

The former minister said he developed a blueprint to guide the implementation of his government’s 10-point agenda to accelerate sustainable social and economic development in the country.

He added that the agenda focuses on economic diversification, agricultural transformation, livestock development, health, education and women/youth empowerment.

Others are digital innovation/entrepreneurship development, clean energy, infrastructure and rural development, anti-corruption campaigns, increasing wages and worker welfare.

Tuggar said he would initiate sound programs to encourage inclusive governance for the younger generation, and promote community policies through collaboration with government, security agencies, community and religious leaders, to promote peace and stability if elected as governor of the state.

“I stand at the front not for power, but for service and progress.

“I am running to build on the legacy of our good leaders and move this country forward,” he said.

He, therefore, sought the support of stakeholders so that he could get the APC ticket in the gubernatorial election.
