Former SGF, Lawal, insists the ADC primaries were rigged in favor of Atiku, saying he has proof

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has insisted that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries were rigged to produce former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the winner.

Lawal, who spoke during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today program on Monday evening, also claimed to have evidence to support his allegations.

Lawal, who said he directly monitored the exercise, said, “Don’t forget I am the Deputy National Chairman (North East). I was on the ground during the exercise, so I have proof. The Atiku people are the ones who are trying to deny what they did. We are all human beings. We know what they did.

“I knew the primary was rigged when it was done, and the results were announced,” he said.

Atiku emerged as the ADC’s standard bearer after defeating Amaechi and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen in a closely watched contest that positioned the party as a major player in the 2027 presidential race.
