Motorists traveling along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been advised to prepare for temporary traffic adjustments as authorities commence installation of safety warning poles on bridges along the busy highway corridor.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, disclosed that the diversion is part of infrastructure improvement works being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works in collaboration with Buildwell Construction Company.
The traffic alert, signed by Route Commander Inspector Afolabi Odunsi and released on Wednesday, stated that the exercise would primarily affect vehicles heading to Ibadan along the Magboro-Ibafo highway axis.
According to the FRSC, construction activities have begun on the first bridge located near Mountain Top University at Kilometer 13, before Ibafo, with the most intensive installation phase scheduled for Thursday, June 25, 2026.
The statement read, “The Federal Ministry of Works, through Buildwell Construction Company, is carrying out the installation of warning gantries in front of bridges along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

“The process of installing the first bridge located in front of Mountain Top University (KM 13), before Ibafo, has begun and is expected to reach its peak on Thursday, June 25, 2026.”
To ensure the safety of road users and construction personnel during operations, the corps said a temporary diversion plan has been put in place for light and medium vehicles bound for Ibadan.
Based on this arrangement, car, bus, pickup and mini truck drivers will be diverted via alternative routes before reconnecting with the toll road.
“Cars, buses, pickup vans and mini trucks will be diverted via the Magboro Under-Bridge to Ibafo and then rejoin the expressway at the NASFAT U-turn,” the statement said.
The FRSC further explained that articulated vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from passing through the affected sections while installation work is underway. The diversion exercise is expected to last approximately one hour.
Road users are advised to remain patient and comply with the traffic control measures in place during the operation.
“Motorists are advised to be patient, obey all traffic regulations, and strictly follow the directions of FRSC personnel and other traffic management officials deployed to the area,” the statement said.
While apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the diversion, the corps stressed that this temporary measure was necessary to facilitate critical safety improvements and improve infrastructure along one of Nigeria’s busiest transport corridors.
