In the midst of the ongoing political crisis in the State of Rivers, being suspended by Governor Siminaayi Fubara has convinced the residents that the challenges will ultimately strengthen them, not to weaken them. He also promised to thwart all efforts to disturb the country’s peace and economy.
Fubara made this statement during the visit of Eid al -Fitr Sallah at his personal residence in Port Harcourt, where he received Muslim leaders from 20 groups based in Islam, including the highest council for Islamic affairs. The details of the visit were released in a statement issued by the Head of the Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, on Monday.
Overcoming the delegation, Fubara urged them and their supporters to place their trust in the Divine Providence. “This season is one of the love, sharing, and sacrifice. You have come to share in our pain and have sacrificed greatly through your prayers,” he said. “As Christians, we believe that everything happens for a goal, and I strongly believe that this situation leads us towards greater goals.”
Recognizing the potential of sadness in the midst of political tension, Fubara emphasized the possibility of supernatural powers that played a role. “No matter what we see, we must remain steadfast. In everything, we give glory to God Almighty. I believe that, in the end, we will appear stronger,” he added.

Re -emphasizing his commitment to justice and equality, he stated, “We believe in egalitarianism, and if our beliefs bring us some pain, let it be. The most important thing is that we stand on the side of truth and truth.”
He expressed regret over his inability to personally reach Muslims during their celebration, promising to strengthen the relationship between religious groups and the government so uncertainty is currently resolved. Fubara also convinced the leaders that their delayed request would be handled after the crisis subsided.
Urged patience, he pulled parallel from the history of religion, by saying, “If God can be patient with Noah to let snails even enter the ark, then patience remains an important virtue in our struggle.”
He also issued a strong warning to those who tried to incite violence, asking for supporters and rivers to avoid provocation. “Their goal is to create problems and deny the people of their livelihoods. We will not allow it. We will continue to operate peacefully and respect the authority formed to ensure that our country remains a model for others in Nigeria,” he said.
Speaking in the name of Muslims, Nasir Uhor expressed solidarity with Fubara, convincing him about their prayers and support. He highlighted the Fubara inclusive governance approach, contrast with the previous administration. “He noted that, unlike the previous government which declared Rivers as a 100%Christian country, Fubara, assuming the office, recognized the country as a majority Christian country while providing space for inclusive.”
Uhor encouraged Fubara to remain steadfast, reminding him of Islamic trust in divine gifts over patience. “He said the challenges are currently in line with the teachings of Islam, where the Creator tests its people through wealth, power, and authority.”
Uhor also asked the Tinubu Bola President to review emergency rules in the state and restore the full authority of Fubara, stating, “The uhor further asked the Tinubu Ball President to review emergency rules in the state and restore the full authority of Fubara, which emphasized that the Governor had carried out effectively despite the crisis.”
The visit ended with a prayer for Fubara, his family, state, and Nigeria.
