Gunmen killed two police officers in Anambra

Gunmen on Sunday night attacked police officers along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in Orumba South Local Area of ​​Anambra State and killed two officers.

Eyewitnesses told reporters on Monday that the slain officers were returning from duty when they were attacked by the criminals.

The state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, confirmed the incident to journalists.

He said the command had begun an investigation into the attack.

“A police team was returning from duty when they were ambushed by gunmen who opened fire at them. In the process, we lost two officers.

“We have been working on the matter since Sunday evening and intensifying efforts to trace the culprits,” the CP said.
