Immigration officer goes to jail over N800k scam.

An immigration officer, Dabiet Onyemi Gilbert, has been sentenced to one year in prison for defrauding a job seeker of 800,000 naira. Gilbert was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of obtaining by false pretenses.

The EFCC had received a petition from the victim and investigated the case, leading to the prosecution and conviction of the fraudster. Justice HH Kereng of the Gombe State High Court convicted Gilbert.
