… First Lady warns against the abandonment of parents’ duties

First Lady, Senator Oltemi Tinubu, warned on Monday that the breakdown of family structures and the negligence of the duties of the parents were the main factors of insecurity, crime and moral decay across the country.
Speaking to the opening of the Haske Biyu 2025 exercise under the command of the Armed Forces and the College Staff (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State, Mrs. Tinubu – represented by Hajiya Nana Shettimo, wife of the vice -president – said the weakening of family values has left many young Nigerians vulnerable to destructive life.
According to her, many parents, weighed down by the pressure of survival, have abandoned their primary responsibility to breed disciplined and morally straight children, exposing them in a way, abuse of drugs, prostitution and extremist ideologies.
“This absence of parents creates a void that is often filled with bad companies and destructive behaviors. The consequences are catastrophic for families and dangerous for national security,” he warned.
Mrs. Tinubu, who was the main speaker of the “family and national security themed event”, underlined that the family remains the foundation of any nation.
“The family is the first place where we learn love, respect, sacrifice and duty. A strong family builds a strong nation,” he said.
First Lady also underlined the role of faith and culture in modeling society, exhorting religious and traditional leaders to intensify the efforts in guiding young people with the right teachings and moral principles.
In support of the government for families, Mrs. Tinubu said that the agenda of Hope’s hope of President Ahmed Tinubu is giving priority to social protection, noting that the reduced conditional transfer program will provide N25,000 in three tranches to 15 million vulnerable families.
He also promised that his renewed initiative of hope would continue to integrate government interventions, with tailor -made projects to stabilize families and promote peace.
By declaring the three-week military week, First Lady invited the participants to leave the “stronger, more united and aware of why we serve the family, for love for the country and for a safer tomorrow”.
Previously, the commander of AFCSC, the vice marshal of the air Hassan Idris Alhaji, described the exercise of Haske Biyu as an audacious multi-agency training aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s response to the challenges of internal security and low intensity conflicts.
He explained that the exercise, which will take place from 15 September to 3 October, will present strategic lessons, operational exercises, study cases and field demonstrations.
It will also include an interactive session labeled “Day in the Life of A Soldier” for civil participants.
Alhaji stressed that the theme of family and security was deliberately chosen to remind the Nigerians that the battle against insecurity must start home.
He expressed optimism on the fact that the program would produce practical strategies and deepened the collaboration between security agencies, government institutions, civil and media society in facing the growing insecurity of the nation.
