After facing several challenges, including finding a venue, the much talked about national convention of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has finally kicked off at the Rainbow Event center located around Area 8 in Central Abuja.

The latest incident followed a series of clashes following the party’s initial plan to use Eagles Square, the National Stadium and a number of other venues which had reportedly been denied to the opposition.

However, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike had denied claims that the party had made an official application for the Eagles Square, stating that the Veldrome, another space located within the stadium, was not under its jurisdiction.
Presently, numerous delegates from across Nigeria have besieged the ADC convention venue.
A senior party official, who did not want his name in print, said: “As you can see, we are holding our convention and we have already overcome the initial frustration. We are moving.”
Blueprint.ng correspondent, who is currently at the convention with sighted delegates adorning several colorful T-shirts and dresses with photos of party aspirants and leaders and the party logo.
One of the delegates from the north of the country, who identified himself as Ismaila, expressed dismay at the initial challenges faced by the party, but changed his mind after attending the event.
Blueprint.ng reports that the party will ratify the decisions taken at the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held earlier.
Like the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Blueprint.ng findings revealed that the embattled Senator David Mark-led ADC may also opt for consensus to avoid further polarization of its ranks.
