Jos-Bauchi-Gombe 330KV Transmission Line to Experience Power Outage – Official


The Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) has informed stakeholders of a planned outage on the 330 kV Jos-Bauchi-Gombe transmission line, scheduled to begin from Saturday to Sunday.

According to the statement from the management of the system operator, the planned attack is to enable it to make the connection of the optical ground cable (OPGW) on the 330 kV line.

“During the outage period, Bauchi, Gombe, Yola and surrounding areas are expected to experience disruption in electricity supply on the Jos – Bauchi – Gombe 132 kV transmission line which will be taken out of service to ensure a safe working environment for maintenance activity.

“The installation of the OPGW is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen transmission infrastructure and improve the reliability, monitoring and communications capabilities of the national grid,” the company explained.

NISO, in the statement underlines that it “appreciates the understanding and cooperation of electricity market participants and electricity consumers in the affected areas, while regretting any inconvenience that the temporary outage may cause.”
