JUST IN: Court sentences former Power Minister, Saleh to 75 years in prison for N22 billion project fraud

Judge James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, has sentenced former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman to 75 years in prison for acts of corruption related to the Mampilla and Zungeru hydroelectric projects.

The trial judge on Wednesday found Mamman guilty on a 12-count indictment and stated that the prison terms would run consecutively, bringing the total sentence to 75 years.

Justice Omotosho further ordered that the prison sentence would begin from the day the convict was arrested.

The judge also directed all security forces to arrest Mamman wherever he is found.

The court also ordered that all money and property recovered from the former minister be donated to the Federal Government, and ordered him to return the outstanding balance of the alleged N22 billion related to the Mampilla and Zungeru hydroelectric projects.
