Kano Gov Yusuf sent a bill on same -sex marriage to the State Assembly

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf, has sent a bill that seeks to prohibit same-sex marriages and other practices that are considered immoral in the state of the State Assembly to be considered.

Head of Press Secretary for Governor Yusuf, Sanusi Bature who confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday said that the governor gave approval on the transmission of the bill while leading the 31st State Executive Council meeting at the Government Building Appendix in the City of Kwankwasiya.

Bature said Joseph noted that his government would not compromise on Islamic values ​​and teachings, emphasizing that the canoeing state must continue to uphold cultural and religious heritage.

“Under any circumstance we will not allow actions that are contrary to our religion and tradition to rooted in the canoe. This government is bound by the task to protect the moral integrity of our society,” the statement said.

“After the passage of law by the State Assembly, the perpetrators were found guilty of being involved in or promoting same -sex marriages and related practices will face strict legal consequences,” he said.

He further explained that the bill specifically forbade same-sex marriages and local practices called Madugo and Liwadi, which the government was considered forbidden.

“Governor Yusuf expressed his belief that parliament members would treat the bill with urgency, given the importance of the country’s moral and social welfare,” Bature added.
