It is a well -known maximum that people often demonize what they cannot conquer. This appropriately describes the burst of attacks from a strong and faceless minority that has made their vocation to confuse the waters of the progress in Kebbi’s state. Unfortunately for them, selling falsehoods in which people already see a real, physical and verifiable success is an Herculean task, if not very impossible.
This is the reality that faces the enemies of Kebbi’s state, wherever they can hide. Dr. Nasir Idris, the governor’s companion of our dear State of Kebbi, has established a new standard that also upsets politicians who prospered for a long time without authentic ambition. Since its election in 2023, Kauran Gwandu shocked many by acting in an unusual way among the Nigerian politicians: he kept his promises to the people of the state.
This, in itself, is an affront to the congregation of career politicians who mask themselves as a leader, whose survival depends strongly on perpetuating bad governance. They feed on bankruptcy, using it as a bargaining chip to blackmail the governors sitting to give them immense relevance.
But the Governor Idris has chosen a different path. He returned the power to people. In just over two years by his administration, each intervention has been adapted to the dealer life and the means of subsistence of our people. He pursued this mission with the honesty and sincerity that Kebbi’s people had not been used to. After all, a governor sitting in front of the cameras is not every day to openly reveal the level of rot in critical sectors, and therefore ensures his people that while the solutions could take time, the result will bring relief and hope.
People believe him, and rightly, because the proof of progress is already visible. Take the roads, for example. Governor Idris focused on the completion of long abandoned projects, also eliminating new ones that connect the entire length and amplitude of the state. His urban renewal program has transformed the roads of the village to Birnin Kebbi, Yauri and Argungu into modern streets, with ready -made floors to extend the gesture to Zuru. Perhaps, the most remarkable of the road intervention tour is the Koko-Dabai road, a crucial stretch of 87 kilometers that had broken under the previous administrations. Recognized as vital for the economic well -being of Zuru’s Emrato and beyond, its completion is now quick to give the people of the Emirate a sense of belonging. The road promises to unlock the vast agricultural potential of the area, providing connectivity so necessary for farmers and merchants.
In education, Idris has shown a similar resolution. His administration has recruited 2,000 qualified teachers, improved school funding and embraced innovative teaching methods to increase standards. The construction of four mega primary schools throughout the state, combined with the renewed support for professional training, underlines its long -term vision to enhance the young citizens of Kebbi with academic and practical skills to compete in a changing labor market. These steps forward in education reflect his wider philosophy of sustainable development, a commitment to position Kebbi as a state able to stand on the shoulder with his peers nationally.
Health care also witnessed considerable progress. So far, the Governor Idris has started the modernization of the Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital by Bernin Kebbi, temporarily transferring vital departments such as medicine, surgery, ophthalmology, ENT, dental and physiotherapy to Kalgo’s Kebbi Medical Center to enable complete remodeling. In the meantime, this structure was elevated to teaching the state of the hospital, strengthening its role in the delivery of health care and professional training. Governor Idris also recruited about 890 health workers, whose title is the compassionate absorption of occasional staff in permanent roles, fortifying the workforce.
Under its leadership, six general hospitals have been renewed, the selected primary health care centers have been updated, the expanded ambulance services, the free delivery kits have been distributed to mothers waiting and psychiatric drugs made available to over 20,000 patients. These bold interventions have gained the regional recognition for excellence in the delivery of health care and in the development of human ability. Needless to say, this is a further test of a leader who deliberately invests not only in the health sector, giving priority to both access and quality, but in the future.
The interventions of the Governor Idris speak to a scheme: he showed him as a governor who does not simply promise but takes deliberated measures to satisfy them. While the challenges remain discouraged, Idris’ style was to face them with transparency, rather than escaping them in negation or political rotation. That rare candor, admitting where putrefaction exists and committing itself to cleaning it, is what fascinated it to people.
It is therefore not surprising that the detractors have become more desperate in their attempts to defame his government. But their propaganda finds little ground to stay on, because those of us who live and work in Kebbi can indicate the roads under construction, reformed schools, improved hospitals and revitalized communities. Progress is tangible; The change is visible.
I think that first these accidental leaders learn that the Governor Idris is not their typical daily politician, better for them. This is because, not only did he go and simply raised the governance bar in the state of Kebbi, the former union leader who completely redefined it. And for those who continue to lead a war of lies, the verdict is out and is simple: you cannot demonize success when fixing people in the face.
When the possibility is given to choose between real progress under the Governor Idris and the empty rhetoric of displaced politicians who despair to return to power for their selfish earnings, the people of Kebbi know where to launch their tent. And come to 2027, we will show these displaced politicians as loyalty appears for progress.
