Kelechi Iheanacho worries about his future at Celtic in Scotland, coach admits uncertainty

Sports247 reports that despite scoring historic goals that helped the team win the Scottish Premiership and FA Cup within a week of each other, Iheanacho is yet to receive assurances of a contract extension, leaving him apprehensive.

The most valuable player of the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup was hoping to return to calm waters after a poor spell at Spanish side Sevilla and an unfortunate loan spell with Southampton in the Championship, but his future remains uncertain.

This was revealed by Celtic manager Martin O’Neill, who confirmed that uncertainty remains over Iheanacho’s future, but admitted that he cannot give the star any guarantees due to his own unresolved situation at the club.

O’Neill told The Scotsman: “Iheanacho keeps asking me! ‘What do you think? Are they going to keep me? Don’t ask me, I’m not the manager anymore. He stopped me in the lift. ‘Will you stay?’ I have no idea, just focus on the game.”

Sports247 recalls that Iheanacho, who scored nine goals in 24 appearances for Celtic this season, joined the Glasgow side on a one-year deal last summer, with the club having the option to extend his contract for another period depending on performance.
