Keyamo rejected the El’rufai Coalition, explaining why Tinubu glided in 2027 was ‘impossible’

The Minister of Aerospace and Development of Aerospace, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has rejected the developing talks about the political coalition aimed at challenging the re -election of Ball President Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, mentioning such efforts “storms in tea cups” and “impossible.”

Speaking of today’s politics, a television program channel aired Monday night, Keyamo said the mergers or alliances were recognized among the opposition figures “heretical and late,” given the depth of the political infrastructure of all progressives Congress (APC).

“No tsunami came,” he said. “This talks are only noise. I have campaigned for two presidents. I know Nigerian political demographics. A coalition cannot shift the president at this time.”

Minister’s statement is responding to the latest statement by the Labor Party Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and former Governor of the State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who both have hinted the need for an opposition alliance. Baba-Ahmed, in particular, accused Tinubu administration of growing decay throughout the structure of governance and asking Nigeria to find alternatives before 2027.

However, Keyamo argues that APC’s structure and experience is far greater than the potential of the coalition. Drawing from a historical precedent, he remembered how APC was born only after years of negotiations between opposition leaders, including the very important post-2011 election meeting between the Governor of the Tinubu soccer at that time and General Muhammadu Buhari.

“What they propose now – mergers or even alliances – need work for years. With the election of only one and a half years away, this is not realistic,” he said.

He described the current coalition supporters as politically inexperienced compared to President Tinubu, added, “He has been walking on this road before. He watched and smiled.”

Overcoming the influence of the movement led by young people such as obidient waves that jumped during the 2023 election, Keyamo stated that charisma alone could not replace the party structure.

“Even heroes like Awolowo and Azikiwe cannot win without a solid political platform. Labor parties are built around Peter Obi. Without structure, you do not go anywhere in Nigerian politics,” he said.

He also underestimated the impact of youth mobilization, questioning the platforms and political support available to maintain such energy outside the election season.

Keyamo further emphasized the strategic depth of Tinubu and the support base, especially in Northern Nigeria, stated, “He has more trusted allies in the north than in the southwest. That is important.”

Commenting on the rearrangement of new politics, the Minister welcomed the division of the Governor of the State Delta Sheriff Oborevwori to APC, even announced that he had released the party’s leadership in the Delta to the Governor.

“I am happy to make a personal sacrifice if that means strengthening our party and securing the president’s re -election,” he said.
