Labury stops faults in Ogun, says the struggle not over

After more than a week of industrial action, the chapter of the state of Ogun del Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and its allied unions have announced the suspension of their strike following the signing of a Memorandum of action (MoA) with the state government.

In a joint declaration signed by the leaders of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), the joint negotiation council (JNC) and the Union Congress (TUC), TuesdayThe decision was made to suspend the strike to allow the government to implement their commitments as indicated in Moa.

The strike, which began on Monday 14 July, had scored several government operations throughout the state.

The leaders of the work mentioned the intervention of important traditional sovereigns, leader of national and respected labor veterans of the Union as fundamental to break the deadly point between the unions and the government.

Their “essays advice, passionate mediation and tireless effort”, says the declaration, created a path for a significant dialogue.

“The interventions of our venerated fundamental sovereigns, national leaders of our various unions and estimated Labor veterans both at home and abroad have carried out key roles in modeling the course of this struggle”, partly read the declaration.

The organized work also indicated unfavorable safety relationships as a reason to set aside the strike, warning that the safety of workers must have precedence over prolonged protests.

“The security relationships are not favorable for us to request any further collection. Our security is fundamental and must be pursued,” the leader of the work said.

While declaring a temporary suspension of the strike, the Union warned that the move does not mark the end of the struggle, describing the agreement as a proof of the sincerity of the government.

“The work has decided to suspend the strike. The agreement is taken as a demonstration of commitment by the state government. We are ready to careful monitoring to their commitments,” says the note.

The unions invited all workers to remain vigilant, united and prepared to resume the action if the government cannot satisfy their obligations.

In a solidarity show, the leadership of the work ensured workers in all state and local services that no one would have been victimized for participating in the strike.

“We assure you that no one in the civil/public service or in the local government service will be victimized for their participation in the struggle,” he added.

The Union expressed a profound appreciation for Ogun’s state workers for their “melancholy, unwavering solidarity and perseverance”, describing their unity as “inspiring and impact”.
