Media freedom cannot be given for free and the absence of such freedom often endangers vulnerable communities and individuals. To mark World Press Freedom Day, we will hear from UN agencies, as well as war correspondents and journalists who face major obstacles in doing their work. The goal is to gain a better understanding of what press freedom means in practice and why press freedom needs to be defended.
