Really interesting approach to the genre. It portrays the historical norse culture, and someone has made his homework, good research. I loved the infos about ravens and sun stones, got it confirmed by own research. The story is rich with details about technology, warfare, economy and politics, although of course it has to be selected information so the flow of the story can go on. Inventing a little is the freedom of the poets, but the video does not seem to do this too much. Interesting also a transmigration protagonist introducing innovations at a middle pace – not the usual rush, but also not the ones with very little innovation. It seems very calculated towards what the early mediaval cultures can process and accept with their limited infrastructure and belief systems. I loughed about the funny details about bragging and inventing stories, that makes the story much more human (and historically correct). The tensions inside royal families are well told. I do not feel comfortable with the protagonist mostly abandoning humanistic values of our present epoch, but it is understandable because he has to survive in an harsh environment. And when he has leeway, he uses it to go a notch further in the civilizing process. It is interesting how this video feel like economy simulation games like the settlers or strategic games like Age of Empires or Empire Earth when it comes to naval warfare or siege engines. It would be interesting to see an expedition into the mediterranean showing how the vikings made european slaves and sold them at arabic markets, and speculating what they might have shopped at the bazaars. Interesting what the video told about technology transfer from arab shipwright prisoners, though in reality it seems that they never used latin sails, but learned advanced sail making from the arabs while sticking to their rectangular form. I was impressed how carefully the video avoided modern terms for regions, territories and cities, but „Albion“ is a greek name for England, the vikings probably used mainly „Enkland“ and „Saksland“. „Kurgan“ is an anachronism, the term was invented much later, the video probably meant the Pechenegs that vikings called „Blámenn“ (blue men) or „Tyrkir“, as far as i know. Konstantinople they called „Miklagárðr“ and its land „Grikkland“, not „Aurelia“ (a roman word derived from the name of an earlier emperor and the coins he let make). I liked that the optical inconsistencies were reduced a bit (compared with the usual mess the AI produces). That the protagonist grew in stature at a certain point in the story felt appropriate given his training and experiences. Really interesting how and why the protagonist deals with scripture and schools.

The New Testament makes it very clear that Christians are supposed to swear loyalty to non christian lords. Unfortunately churches and pastors and priests do not follow the new testament. In fact, they often contradict it directly
Had I been the MC, I would have used the time before the child Constantine emperor to demonstrate my skills in mathematics and general science. That would've given me the opportunity to escape the Norse society that held fewer opportunities and due to violence higher risk of death. By avoiding political intrigue and choosing a scholarly path, would have had a far easier and more pleasant time of it.
Also, stories of shield maidens are over hyped. The stories of shield maidens comes from legendary sagas and later chronicles, many of which were not written until the 13th and 14th centuries, long after the Viking Age ended. Genetic testing of MANY Viking grave sites show only one likely shield maiden. They probably did exist, but were very rare. At a time of melee, very few women would be successful. Viking society did offer much opportunity for women and rape was severely punished.
