[Press Release] The National Agency for Scientific and Engineering Infrastructures (Nasens) and the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have
It has renewed their understanding memorandum (Mou) to deepen the collaboration on the development of indigenous technology, in particular in defense, aerospace and infrastructure.
The event, which took place at the Naseni headquarters in the IDU industrial layout, Abuja on July 25, 2025, was marked by a high -level visit led by the head of the air staff, the air marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar together with the high officers of the Nigerian air force. The team was received by the executive vice -president/CEO of Naseni, Khalil Suleiman Halilu and his management team.
In his key observations, the aerial marshal praised Naseni for his transformative work under the guidance of Halilu, in particular in the Reverse Engineering, on the local production of engineering components and a constant support for the Nigerian Air Force.
He specifically recognized the contribution of Nasens to the development of the Rocket C5 project, highlighting the role of the agency in the production of rockets and structural components and in the conduct of the analysis of precision materials.
He also applauded the institution of Northwest Technology Innovation Hub Northwest located at the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna, describing it as a reference project made possible through the terrestrial support by NAF.
Marshal Air observed that AirForce is looking for greater inclusion in governance and execution of the Hub, given its role as a guest and technical collaborator, also proposing that Nasens has formally co -owner of the Rocket C5 project, soliciting the agency to continue guiding the production of rocket body structures while exploring the optimizations of the costs.
In addition, he invited Naseni to enroll his young researchers in Recently developed research and development forms at his research and development institute. The request extends to a new partnership area: the development of capacity in the control of the numerical control of the computer (CNC) for the technical staff of the Air Force at the center of excellence of Nasens.
By responding, Nasens Evc/CEO Khalil Suleman Halilu reiterated the agency’s commitment against the long -standing collaboration with the aeronautics, describing it both professional and personal.
“Our partnership with the Nigerian aeronautics is one of our most fluid and productive,” he said. “We have achieved so much together-and in reverse engineering projects to shared innovation hubs we are just starting.”
Halilu has on display the progress of Nasens in the development of driver -free air vehicles (UAV), drone pilot training, asset recovery programs and its world -class CNC processing infrastructure, inviting the aeronautics to exploit all the resources and structures available.
He underlined the culture of the collaboration of the private sector of Nasens as a model for economic implementation, while maintaining inclusive access for public institutions such as the aeronautics.
By highlighting the signature of the new memorandum of understanding, Halilu said that the updated agreement is designed to be more structured, led by the results and aligned with the renewed agenda of the hope of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It focuses on the joint R&D, on the local production of aerospace and defense components, development of human capital and exchange of knowledge.
“This partnership goes beyond the waste,” Halilu observed. “It is a question of building the future of the defense and innovation of Nigeria together.”
The formal signature of the renewed Mou has marked a new chapter of the strategic relationship between the two institutions, preparing the foundations for the activation of joint action plans on the Rocket C5 project, on the CNC training, on the production of defense and other initiatives led by innovation.
